But hold on… after several weeks or even months, you realise your website isn’t showing up on Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) from Google or other search engines. You’re unsure about the source of your traffic. Are visitors landing on your website through your Instagram stories? Facebook posts? Or are they clicking on a Google ad? More importantly, how many conversions did that Google Ad yield?
The answers to these crucial questions lie in data; data about your website’s traffic. The best part? This information is available for FREE. All you need to do is set up a few accounts – which are also free and provided by Google. With these tools in place, your business decisions will be rooted in concrete data, rather than just a hunch.
As a part of our service, We ensure that these key tools are integrated into every website we build. These tools are split into two categories: “Using Ads” and “Not Using Ads”. This distinction is important because if you aren’t running Google Ads, you won’t need to set up those tools until you decide to do so.
Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager is a free tool from Google that allows you to manage and deploy marketing tags (snippets of code or tracking pixels) on your website (or mobile app) without having to modify the code. This makes the process of implementing multiple types of tags, such as those from Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook, Twitter, and many other third-party sources, much easier and more manageable. GTM has built-in tags for many popular services and provides error checking and security features to ensure your tags are working correctly.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a comprehensive web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, providing valuable insights that can help you shape the success strategy of your business. Google Analytics lets you measure your advertising ROI. It offers insights into how visitors find and use your site, how to keep them engaged and “convert” them into customers. It’s considered as a fundamental tool in any digital marketer’s toolkit.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is a free service provided by Google that helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site’s presence in Google Search results. It allows you to understand and improve how Google sees your site. With Google Search Console, you can check your site for crawling errors, submit a sitemap, see what search queries lead people to your site, check backlinks, monitor different site issues and more. It does not require sign-up and is extremely helpful in SEO strategy and site maintenance.
Sitemap Submission
A sitemap is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organisation of your site content. Search engine web crawlers read this file to more intelligently crawl your site. It’s like an “index” of your site’s content and makes sure that all pages that you want to be crawled are accessible to the crawlers. Sitemaps are especially important if your site is large or if it has a lot of archived content that doesn’t get many links. It’s also useful if your site is new and has few external links, or if it has rich media content. You can submit your sitemap directly to Google via the Search Console.
